Erin Martinez (Coach)

20151230_amymellowACFPhotographyMellow_Inguz12_30_15_19I grew up as an active child, always tagging along with my mom to aerobics until I started dance and gymnastics at the age of three and a half. My family moved around a lot (GA, AL, PA, TX, NC) and joining a gymnastics program was a great way to keep me in a healthy routine while making new friends in each state (I’ve found this works in adult life too!). I did gymnastics through middle school (playing tennis and water/snow skiing when time allowed) then started competitive all-star cheerleading. During high school I also¬†coached gymnastics and cheerleading, and traveled across the country to lead camps. In 1999 I attended North Carolina State University, made the cheerleading team, and cheered three seasons of football, basketball and on the competitive team – winning a collegiate national cheerleading championship. In 2005, I moved to Oahu, Hawaii where I met my husband, Carlos. We love being active (and competitive) together – marathons, triathlons and even a couple tandem surfing contests. Now that we have Quade (born 2010) and Zoe (born 2011) we use those surf boards as stand-up paddle boards instead. After having kids, I started my own women’s fitness group too. Carlos fell in love with CrossFit in 2012 and shortly after I joined in on the madness. We’ve made it a family affair, passing on our love for fitness (and rope climbs and burpees and running…) to both kids as well. I continue taking courses to stay current with the latest fitness developments and am very excited to share my passion for a fit and balanced life with the CrossFit Inguz family!
